The Freedom in Depth

Grateful day, everyone. BJ here.

Freediving is about freedom — the freedom to explore the unknown, the freedom from gravity, and the freedom that comes when you trust your body and the water. It’s a feeling I chase every time I dive. Being weightless, drifting beneath the surface, there’s nothing holding you down. It’s pure liberation.

Each dive brings a sense of adventure, but it’s also a journey inward. The deeper I go, the more I connect with the silence and the calm that the water provides. There’s a certain freedom in knowing that down there, beneath the waves, nothing else matters. No deadlines, no distractions — just the quiet connection with the ocean.

I’ve always been drawn to the idea of freedom, both in my music and in my personal life. Freediving gives me the space to experience that fully. I’m thankful for the chance to explore not only the depths of the ocean but also the depths of my own mind and soul.

Gratitude For Resillience

Grateful day, everyone. BJ here.

Today, I want to express gratitude for resilience. Life isn’t always easy, and as artists, we face setbacks, disappointments, and unexpected challenges. But one thing I’ve learned is that resilience is what keeps us moving forward. It’s the ability to rise after a fall, to keep playing after a tough show, and to keep creating when inspiration feels distant.

I’m grateful for every moment where I’ve had to dig deep and push through the obstacles. Those moments have taught me more about myself than anything else. Resilience is the foundation of growth, and without it, we wouldn’t appreciate the triumphs nearly as much.

So, I’m thankful for the hard days, because they’ve made the good ones that much sweeter. If you’re going through something tough right now, remember that resilience is in you, and better days are on the horizon.

The Rhythm of the Ocean

Grateful day, everyone. BJ here.

There’s a natural rhythm to the ocean, much like there’s a rhythm to music. Every dive feels like a dance with the water. The currents, the waves, even the silence, all have their own flow. Being in sync with that rhythm brings a sense of unity and peace. It reminds me of the power and grace that exists when you let go and move with the flow of life.

When I’m freediving, I become attuned to the subtle movements of the water around me. Just like a musical performance, it’s all about timing, flow, and feeling. I’ve learned that fighting against the current or rushing through a dive only leads to frustration. The key is to surrender to the rhythm and trust that the water will guide you.

The ocean’s rhythm is a constant reminder to trust in the process, both in diving and in life. It’s about letting go of control and allowing yourself to move with the natural flow. Whether I’m on stage or underwater, I’m always trying to find that balance between effort and ease, and the ocean teaches me that every time I dive.

Gratitude for Creativity

Grateful day, everyone. BJ here.

Today, I’m reflecting on creativity and how grateful I am for the ability to express myself through music. Creativity is a gift that flows through us, and sometimes we don’t even know where it comes from. When I pick up my cello, it’s like I’m tapping into something deeper, and for that, I’m so thankful.

Every time I sit down to write, perform, or collaborate, I’m reminded of how powerful creativity is. It’s not just about making art, it’s about connecting with others, sharing emotions, and telling stories. I’m grateful for every creative spark that’s come my way and for the ability to share it with the world.

Creativity is something we all have, in one form or another. So, today, I want to encourage you to explore your own creativity, in whatever way it shows up for you. Let it flow!

Breathing With Purpose

Grateful day, everyone. BJ here.

As a freediver, breath is everything. Learning to control it, to slow it down, is an art. It's the same kind of discipline I bring into my music. When I perform, I’m aware of every breath, every pause, every moment of silence. Freediving teaches me to breathe with purpose — not just in the water, but in life.

Every dive begins with breath control, and it’s a powerful reminder of how important breath is in our daily lives. The way we breathe affects how we move, think, and feel. In freediving, slowing down my breath helps me conserve energy, stay calm, and dive deeper. Similarly, in music, breath allows me to express emotion, control my performance, and connect with my audience.

Freediving has given me a new appreciation for breath as a form of life and rhythm. Whether I’m underwater or on stage, it’s a reminder to slow down, be present, and approach everything with intention. Every breath has a purpose, and I’m grateful for the lessons it continues to teach me.

Gratitude For Community

Grateful day, everyone. BJ here.

This week, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible people I have around me — my community. I’m talking about the musicians, fans, friends, and collaborators who make every project worthwhile. I’m lucky to be part of something bigger than myself, where we lift each other up, support one another, and make magic happen together.

The 757 Artist Collective is a great example of this. It’s a space where local talent comes together to collaborate and share. I’m grateful to be surrounded by individuals who are passionate, creative, and dedicated to making our music community thrive. Your energy pushes me to be better and to continue pursuing my dreams.

If you’re reading this, know that I’m thankful for your presence in this journey. Whether we’ve shared a stage or you’ve been cheering from the crowd, your support means the world.

Water as My Meditation

Grateful day, everyone. BJ here.

For me, the water has always been a place of meditation. It’s where I can let go of the constant buzz of life and just be. Freediving requires focus, but it also allows me to clear my mind in a way nothing else does. When I dive, I’m not thinking about the next gig or the next business move — I’m just present. That’s the magic of it.

Each time I dive, I’m reminded of how essential it is to find peace in the present moment. Life can get busy, and it’s easy to get caught up in all the noise. But once I’m under the water, I can finally disconnect. The feeling of weightlessness, the slow and intentional breathing — it’s all part of a greater meditation that helps me stay balanced. I come out of each dive feeling more grounded and centered.

Water has always been my space to meditate and recharge. It’s where I can be my truest self, both in silence and in movement. I’m thankful for the way the ocean clears my mind and reminds me of the simplicity of being.

Launching into the Future: The Story Behind ‘SCIFI’ and My Musical Evolution

I’m beyond excited to share my latest single, "SCIFI," with you all. This track represents a new chapter for me, both personally and creatively. It’s more than just a song—it’s a statement about the direction I’m heading and the artistic freedom I’ve embraced in my career. I’ve always had a clear vision of the music I wanted to create, and with "SCIFI," I’ve finally been able to realize that vision.

One of the key reasons this project came together so beautifully was the incredible collaboration I had with Johnny Terrell at Soul Haven Studios. Johnny’s been in the game for a long time, and his expertise is unparalleled. When we stepped into the studio, there was this immediate synergy. He knew how to bring out the best in my sound, guiding the process while also giving me the space to explore and push boundaries. Working with him made the recording sessions feel like pure magic—each layer, each sound we added felt purposeful and exciting.

What I love about "SCIFI" is that it’s not bound by any particular genre. It’s a symphony of sounds, from electronic textures to ethereal harmonies, all topped with what I feel is my best vocal performance to date. There’s no cello in this track—just a full immersion into a world of futuristic vibes. It’s a bit of a departure from what I’ve done before, but it feels so authentic to where I am right now as an artist.

I’ve always been inspired by Whitney Houston—not just her voice, but the fact that she had these incredible songs written specifically for her. That’s something I’ve always dreamed of—being able to work with songwriters who get me and can translate my experiences and emotions into the perfect track. That dream led me to start working with Norva Reign, a brilliant songwriter who has been instrumental in helping me craft this new chapter of my sound. She gets where I’m coming from and where I want to go, and together we’ve been creating music that feels like me.

This whole experience has been incredibly freeing because, for the first time in my career, I have the space to create music exactly the way I want to. No compromises, no outside pressure—just pure artistic expression. That kind of freedom is rare, and I’m so grateful to finally be at this point in my journey. It’s allowed me to dive deeper into my sound and experiment with things I’ve always wanted to try.

"SCIFI" is a taste of what’s to come, and let me tell you—I’m just getting started! There’s so much more in the pipeline, and I can’t wait to share it with you all. I’ve been blessed to collaborate with some amazing artists and producers, and every new song we create feels like a step forward, pushing me further into the music I’ve always dreamed of making. I feel more energized and focused than ever, and I’m excited to see where this new direction takes me.

For all of you who have been on this journey with me—from my days on America’s Got Talent to now—thank you for your continued support. Your encouragement has been a huge part of what drives me to keep evolving and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in my music. I hope you love "SCIFI" as much as I do, and that you’re as excited as I am for everything that’s coming next. This is just the beginning of a whole new adventure!

So, strap in and get ready—the future is looking bright, and I’m ready to soar.

Gratitude For Growth

Grateful day, everyone. BJ here.

Today’s post is all about growth. I’m constantly evolving as an artist and person, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. Growth isn’t always comfortable, but it’s necessary. From each performance, each lesson learned, each mistake, and each triumph — we grow.

I’m grateful for the challenges that have stretched me beyond what I thought was possible. Every time I step outside my comfort zone, whether it's experimenting with new music or diving into new business ventures, I gain something valuable. Growth isn’t about reaching a destination; it’s about enjoying the journey and becoming better every day.

So, I encourage you to embrace your own growth. Whatever you’re going through, remember that you’re becoming stronger, more capable, and more in tune with your true self.

With Gratitude,
BJ Griffin

The Stillness Beneath

Grateful day, everyone. BJ here.

Freediving is more than just a sport — it's a practice of stillness. The deeper I dive, the quieter everything becomes. There’s something about being beneath the surface, where the chaos of the world disappears. Each dive is a lesson in patience, breath, and mindfulness.

I remember one particular dive where everything seemed to fade away, and all I could hear was my heartbeat and the gentle flow of the water around me. In those moments, I’m not just diving deeper into the water — I’m diving deeper into myself. Freediving has taught me that peace doesn’t come from the absence of noise but from being able to quiet the mind amidst it.

The stillness beneath the surface reminds me of why I started diving in the first place. It’s about finding peace within and learning to be comfortable in silence. Every dive brings a new level of clarity, and I’m grateful for the perspective it brings to my life and my music.
